Happy Independence Day! Here are some of the upcoming 4th of July fireworks in Wichita and surrounding communities this year. Note that since the 4th falls on a Tuesday, some celebrations will happen on the weekend before Independence Day!

Many of the community celebrations will be held in parks, so be sure to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

4th of July Fireworks in Wichita and Independence Day Celebrations

Celebrate America Bradley Fair Jazz Concert Fireworks Show 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 29 . Arrive early to stake out your spot for this free concert and fireworks show. Vincent Ingala, saxophone player, is featured at  7:30 p.m. and the fireworks show is immediately following the music, about 9:30 p.m. You can sit in the plaza near the band or on the grassy area by the lake. Red White & You Blood Drive at Sedgwick County Zoo 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 29 – July 1 Presenting donors will receive free zoo admission and a discount for members of their immediate families.

Celebrate America at Old Cowtown 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 1 , 2017 features games, entertainment, ice cream social  and temperance march. Festivities include walkers, tug of war, sack races and watermelon seed spitting events. The activities are included with regular admission, which is only $7.75 for adults and $6 for kids.  316-219-1871, updated

Goddard Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday July 1 , 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Discovery Intermediate School, 301 S. Main St., Goddard. Enjoy free hot dogs, watermelon, ice cream and water while they last. A bounce-house will be set up for the kids, and if you bring your own gloves and equipment, you can play softball on the field.  Bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks show, which begins at dusk. (Please do not bring your own fireworks.) After the fireworks, everyone is invited to the Goddard pool for a free pool party. One Nation Under God Patriotic Celebration July 2 will be the 25th anniversary of Central Christian Church’s patriotic celebration in its worship center, with music and tribute to the men and women who have contributed to making our country a stronghold of freedom. Free Dilly Bar treat after the presentation. 7-9 p.m. 2900 N. Rock Rd., Wichita.

Augusta Fireworks & Community Parade The fireworks display about dusk July 3  at Augusta City Lake. Entry is free. A children’s parade is usually held the following morning in downtown Augusta.

Wellington 4th of July Fireworks are July 3 after the Heat baseball game, which starts at 7:05 p.m. Both events are free to watch at the field, 601 E. Harvey.

Red, White & Boom!  July 4 .   Wichita’s BIG fireworks show and Independence Day party! Come celebrate Independence Day with Wichita’s Parks Foundation in downtown Wichita, on the Hyatt Lawn, the Lewis Street Bridge and Water Street.  Activities and entertainment include music from Bob FM at 5 p.m. and the band Astronauts at 7 p.m.; beer garden; food trucks and a fireworks show over the Arkansas River at 9:45 PM. 316-268-4361

North Newton Fireworks Celebration Day July 4 , beginning at 8 p.m. at Kidron Bethel Village, 3001 Ivy Drive,  North Newton.  Festivities include a bake sale, ice cream sales, quilt auction, games and food and beverage concessions. Fireworks start about dusk. Free admission. Bring your lawn chairs and a flashlight to help you navigate between the parking lot and the celebration. updated

Haysville Independence Day Celebration July 4 .  A day of 4th of July activities includes the Independence Day parade on Grand Avenue at 8:30 a.m., sand volleyball tournament (fee required, sign up by June 26 at the HAC),  kids’ fishing derby, frog races, raft races and a water carnival  at the swimming pool, Stars & Stripes Obstacle Course for kids, a concert featuring  Groove 42 at 7:30 in Riggs Park and the Fourth of July fireworks show about 9:45 p.m. (Most of the activities will be in or near Riggs Park.)  Events are sponsored by the Haysville Park Board. updated

Derby 4th of July Celebration July 4 . The Independence Day celebration begins with a parade at 10 a.m. at Panther Stadium heading west on Madison Avenue to Georgie Street, south to Market Street, east to Derby Middle School.  Fireworks festivities in High Park begin at 7 p.m. with kids’ activities and food  vendors. The park is at  2801 E. James St. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Free shuttles to the park offered from Derby High School, 920 N. Rock Road.  Entry is free.  Other activities and events include the 36th Annual Firecracker Run at 7:30 a.m. at High Park, 4M and 1M, Party in the Park – a Fourth of July Celebration at Madison Avenue Central Park, 512 E. Madison Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Derby Twins baseball vs. Haysville Aviators at  7 p.m. at Panther Field, Woodlawn Boulevard and Market Street. updated

Park City Salute to Freedom July 4 festivities include a parade at 9 a.m. from Spangles east to Hydraulic, then north to park, 6801 N. Hydraulic .  Fun at the park 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. includes inflatables, kids train, face painting, food vendors and entertainment. A car show is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pet show is at 11 a.m.  Entry forms are online .  Entertainment and fireworks are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Entry is free, but tickets are required. Nab tickets at the fireworks stand behind Emprise Bank in Park City, sponsor locations, at the daytime DJ stage  in the park, and at the gate. Performing bands include Across The Pond, OMG and Big Fat Fun. updated

El Dorado Independence Day Celebration July 4 . Events begin at 9 a.m. in East Park. Games and fun includes turtle races, Whiffle ball tournament, a bike parade, water balloon toss and more. Bike parade participants are asked to gather at 9:30 a.m. for the parade at 9:45 a.m.  Free chips and hot dogs are served beginning at 11:30 a.m. and free swim time at the municipal pool is from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The El Dorado Broncos baseball team plays at 7 p.m. in McDonald Stadium. Fireworks are at the stadium after the game. Festivities are free. 316-321-9100 updated
