If you live in a tornado-prone area or you are an in area where a storm is announced, here are a few measures that can keep you safe from the storm while you are in your house:
- charge your phones, your laptops and your battery-operated devices, such as torches and wall lights to prepare for a power cut;
- collect valuables, important documents, some food, water, clothes, mattresses and sleeping bags to a safe place, such as a windowless room in the center of the house, a storm cellar or a basement room;
- disconnect the electrical appliances and devices that you don’t need for preventing appliance damage and house fires;
- block the doors and the windows with shutters;
- move your pets inside the home or to a place where they can be safe during the storm.
If you are outside when the storm hits, try to find shelter in a strong building. Call on a Wichita remodeling company as soon as possible to repair any damage.
