Visiting Kansas City for the holidays is great, because there are plenty of family-friendly entertainment option, from lights displays, ice skating and concerts, to abundant holiday shopping opportunities and festive meals.

If you start planning your holiday, put these events and celebration options on your list; you will not regret it.

 

Music

  • “A Christmas Carol” at the Spencer Theatre. Enjoy a classic tale that makes us remember the meaning of this holiday
  • The Salvation Army free concert and VIP reception
  • The holiday adventure of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, which is a colorful musical production that reminds you to embrace the things that make you different, as they are also making you special.

 

Lighting ceremonies

  • The annual lighting of the Kansas City Crowns and the official arrival of Santa Claus (Zona Rosa)
  • Legend's Lighting Ceremony, featuring a very large display of animated lights synchronized to music, giveaways and the appearance of Santa Claus
  • Union Station’s lighting ceremony, featuring s indoor lighting of the tree and free evening mini train rides.

 

Movies

  • Watch classic holiday Movies, from November 16 to December 18, at the Union Station.
  • Attend “Love Actually” Movie Party, sing along Bill Nighy that “rubbish” Christmas Is All Around and enjoy the performance of some of the most charming A-list British actors, including Hugh Grant, Keira Knightly, Emma Thompson and the late wonderful Alan Rickman.
