Why Winter Is A Great Time To Repair Your Roof

Roof Repair In The Winter

Winter may not be the ideal time of the year to deal with roof repairs, but it is still a great time. Read on and learn why.

First, Penney Construction roofing contractors are most likely available when you need them. This almost never happen in the summer, when they are super-busy and you end up on a waiting list, longer or shorter, depending on how lucky you are.

If you are unsure about the safety of performing roofing repairs during winter, do not worry: professional roofers are equipped to do their job safely, just like in any other season. Actually, some of them may even prefer working in winter than enduring the summer`s heat that literally cooks them on them roof.

The only drawbacks are related to the behavior of some roofing materials in low temperatures. There are roofing materials that should not be used during this time of the year.

When it comes to flat roofs, PVC and TPO are safe to install, but rubber doesn`t work in very low temperatures, because the adhesives will freeze and not bond.

In the case of sloped roofs, asphalt (which is the most common roofing material) must be avoided during the winter, because the seal between overlapping shingles bonds only when it gets heat from the sun. Additionally, asphalt roofs are susceptible to ice dam formation.

Metal roofs are perfectly safe to install in the winter.
